A Tale as Old as Time…

Astrology has been practiced for thousands of years and was once widely respected. Yet today it is often met with skepticism or ridicule. How did a practice that was once central to human life become so distant from it?

In the Ancient, Medieval, and even Renaissance eras, people understood the world as relational and meaningful. Nature was seen as dynamic, patterned, and open to interpretation. Free will was assumed, and many philosophers explored how individuals could live moral and meaningful lives. Within this worldview, astrology was a way of understanding the design of the universe. By recognizing the patterns above and below, people could work within that design and make wiser choices

This perspective shifted during the Enlightenment. The laws of motion developed by Isaac Newton introduced a powerful new way of understanding the universe as a predictable machine. If enough information were known, it seemed possible to calculate the future with precision. Because this model worked so well for large physical systems, it changed how astrology was interpreted. Astrology began to be judged as if it should produce exact, deterministic predictions… something it had never claimed to do.

Centuries later, quantum physics complicated this picture. The Uncertainty Principle showed that there is a fundamental limit to how precisely we can know the state of a particle. Nature itself contains uncertainty. The universe is not a perfectly predictable machine. Philosophers such as Thomas Aquinas argued that this kind of openness in nature preserves human freedom, and is exactly what gives us the ability to choose.

Astrology was never meant to predict exact outcomes. It has been used across the ages to understand the patterns and tendencies of the world around us . It helps us deepen our self-awareness, and make more conscious choices so we can work with the greater design, not against it.
